Mustang Service Cringe Digest – Weekly Edition
▪ In the Netherlands, a fraudster was arrested who used deepfakes to open 46 bank accounts under other people’s names.
› How the scheme worked:
→ posted fake apartment rental listings
→ collected standard document packages from victims
→ used neural networks to “wear” the victim’s face
→ passed video verification
→ opened accounts and used them for fraud operations
⚠️ The most revealing part:
he was not exposed by KYC algorithms, but purely by chance — at the border, due to carrying a large number of bank cards.
▪ Banks claim they have implemented deepfake protection, but according to Veriff, up to 20% of such attacks still pass video verification.
▪ If you don’t want your case to look suspicious to the system, it’s better to build a strategy before submission, not after a rejection.
Message us — we’ll analyze your case and point out the real risks.
